I work in college intaglio studio that has an unfortunate humidity problem in the summer. I recently took a piece of Fabriano Rosapina and soaked it for less than a minute. It immediately became saturated, turned translucent and started to fall apart. I tried another piece, which I just lightly sponged, and the same thing happened. The Rosapina was from a batch of paper that had performed normally last time it was used in the spring. We are wondering if the humidity could have weakened the sizing, or if we just have some defective sheets. We also use Arches, BFK, and Hahnemule Copperplate, all of which have been fine. Any insight would be appreciated.
