Ask an Expert - Forum > Thoughts on Stonehenge for Colored Pencil

Notes from a colored pencil artist after testing Stonehenge:

This paper has slightly more texture than Lenox, but still allows for relatively crisp lines. It feels sturdier and slightly drier in comparison. I found it easier to apply even, light layers, and when using a sharp pencil, it was easy to reach into the tooth and achieve a smooth blend. It handles burnishing well, but it's even better for layering. This paper showed the least amount of wax sheen among the three papers I tested, even after several layers. The surface is beautifully versatile, lending itself well to both soft blends and more textured subjects. I also really appreciate the subtle color range in the pad.
All in all, great for textured subjects, layering, and keeping an even, consistent sheen throughout a drawing.
