Hi. I use watercolor pencils. I'm looking for a paper that has the texture of drawing paper and can handle watercolor and masking fluid. I like the surface of Lenox, but I'm guessing it won't hold up to much masking. Do you have a recommendation for something else to try? I typically don't love cold press or hot press watercolor paper, though admittedly I haven't tried Stonehenge Hot Press aqua yet. Thanks!
Better late than never, the answer depends on how heavy a wash you're planning. For a heavier wash you're going to want a watercolor paper for sure. For a lighter wash - if you're looking for something like Lenox (not textured but definitely not smooth) you may want to consider:
Watercolor Papers Arches En-Tout-Cas. This is a two sided paper (textured on one side and smoother on the other) sized for watercolor and works well Stonehenge Aqua HP - smooth without being slick
Drawing Papers that can handle light washes Coventry Rag Vellum Rising Museum Board
Note: for Stonehenge Aqua we recommend these masking fluids: Grumbacher Miskit Liquid Watercolor Frisket Sennelier Masking Fluid
Very sorry to have missed this question.
