I recently ordered a roll of Stonehenge 50" x 10 yards in Kraft color. I just opened the package, and had a question about the paper. It appears that one side is slightly darker and smoother in texture, and the other side is lighter with a coarser tooth.

Is there a recommendation on which side is "correct"? Or is one side recommended over the other for different media, ie. Watercolor, Pastels, Ink, Graphite, etc?

Thank you for your recent order of Stonehenge Kraft rolls. Both sides are suitable for various media types; however, the "correct" side is the darker & smoother one. We recommend this side for graphite, colored pencil, pastels, and wet on dry watercolor. Please note that Stonehenge is not sized for heavy water usage but it can handle wet on dry as well as light washes well.

The coarser toothed side is suitable for these applications as well. The only difference is that the coarser side is better for abstract work where extremely fine detail is not desired or necessary.
