Ask an Expert - Forum > Paper for linocut without soaking

I'm confused as to what paper to buy for lino printing. I have a press, but I don't soak the paper. I'm looking for cream or light tan paper or other colors. Is your black textured?

Since you’re printing on dry paper, you have quite a few good options.

For something lightweight in a cream or natural shade, I would look at Rives Lightweight or Rives Heavyweight Cream, Awagami Bunkoshi Select Natural, or Legion Kitakata Natural. If you prefer a heavier sheet, Rives BFK and Stonehenge are both good choices. Rives BFK comes in Off-White, Cream, and Tan, while Stonehenge is available in Natural, Warm White, and Cream.

Stonehenge Black is not heavily textured. It has a subtle vellum surface, so there is a slight tooth, but the texture is consistent. Rives BFK has a somewhat more noticeable texture.
