Ask an Expert - Forum > Paper for Marbling

I am looking for a paper for marbling. I am using Jacquard marble paints that I mostly use on fabrics but have not found a good paper yet.

We recommend Lenox 100, Rives Lightweight, Stonehenge, and Awagami Bunkoshi Select for marbling with Jacquard Marbling Colors. All four options are absorbent papers that can pick up the marbled pattern while remaining strong during the wet process.

Lenox 100 and Stonehenge are heavier cotton papers, while Rives Lightweight and Bunkoshi Select offer lighter surfaces. If you would like to work on colored paper, Colorplan is also a good option.

Jacquard recommends treating the paper with alum before marbling to help the colors bond to the fibers.
