Ask an Expert - Forum > Screen Printing Paper for Water-Based Inks

Hi, I've been using Arhes 88 for screen printing. I was wondering if you could recommend a similar paper for water-based screen printing inks.

When screen printing or silk screening with water-based printing inks you must choose a paper that has some type of internal sizing, ideally sizing suited for watermedia. A non-sized sheet like Arches 88 will experience buckling because it is not sized to handle water-based inks.

A good substitute for Arches 88 when using water-based inks is Saunders Waterford High White Hot Press. It is available in the same 300gsm as the Arches 88 and offers sheets as heavy as 640gsm. This specific sheet offers a similar brightness, weight and surface to Arches 88 and can handle multiple layers of ink.
