Ask an Expert - Forum > preserving/protecting oil paintings on yupo

I paint on yupo with oils/Liquin. How best to protect and preserve the paintings? Do I need varnish or another sealant? If I mat and frame with UV glass, do I need any protective coating at all or will glass serve that purpose? Thanks!

There are a few articles in this forum about sealing artwork to YUPO. Here's a link that sums up a couple options:

Although the UV glass will protect your artwork from the harmful UV light, it's also recommended to seal your painting with a varnish as YUPO is non-porous and any layering or paint buildup will peel off over time. The spray will prevent that from happening.
