Ask an Expert - Forum > Looking for a type of paper
Hi Rey,
There are a number of transfer papers on the market that one can find in most hobby/craft stores. Other than that your best bet is to stick with the tracing paper option. There are probably heavier versions of tracing paper that you can source online and/or through your craft store. Good luck.

Thanks for the information an insight. While the tracing paper option works, I am hopeful for something slightly better. There is a paper that exists, the appearance, weight and feel is similar to tracking paper. However, when wet this paper does not tear apart as readily as tracing paper. Instead, the paper holds together almost as if there is a membrane covering. Looking through your site, I noticed the Yupo paper and was considering that as a potential candidate.
Essentially, I think that it would be a translucent paper that would be somewhat resistant to wrinkling when slightly wet. Do you have anything that may fit the bill.
Thanks again for replying.

Hi Rey,
YUPO is a synthetic non-porous paper that is not laser compatible, so that option will not work.
You might look into Reich's CT vellum paper:
https://www.reichpaper.com/ct.html
It's laser compatible and seems like it would be much more durable than the paper you're using now.
Hope this helps.

I am looking for a paper for photo crafts. Specifically, I transfer pictures from paper to wood and then continue on with working the wood in whatever project I have underway. The process includes printing a picture from a laserjet printer onto the paper. Applyng an acrylic glue to a peice of wood and laying the paper, printed side down onto the glue. After the glue dries, the paper is sprayed with a mist of water and then pulled, or rubbed from the wood, leaving the printed picture glued to the wood. I am currently using a lightweight tracing paper, however, the paper has a tendency to wrinkle a bit when laid into the glue. Spraying the backside of the paper while laying it into the glue seems to help a bit with the wrinkling, but the wrinkling is still present. Ideally, the paper would have these qualities:
printable on a laserjet, able to be laid down into a thinset of glue without wrinkling, able to release the printed/fused toner onto the wood after being lighlty sprayed with mists of water. The paper doesn't necessarily have to be ligtweight if it able to be pulled up intact, or semi-intact when wet. Do you have any suggestinos? Thanks, Rey. .
