Ask an Expert - Forum > Mounting Stonehenge paper on wood panel

Hi. I have a finished painting, gouache and acrylic on 30x44” 90lb Stonehenge, that I want to mount to a wooden panel. I’ve done some research and thought I might seal the wood with polyurethane spray, then once dry use golden soft gel medium applied with a roller to the wood, then place the painting down and use a roller on top of a barrier paper to roll out any bubbles. Does this sound right to you? Wondering if there’s a better adhesive to use for the paper since it isn’t that heavy a paper weight and I worry about it being saturated with adhesive and expanding. It sounds like the golden soft gel medium could be the way to go but I’m just not sure given the paper weight. Do you think I should apply the adhesive to both the wood and the paper or just to the wood? Let me know what you think!

Hi Heather, Although we are experts in paper we are not the best to advise on mounting. I would consult a professional framer as they use these materials all the time and can suggest best-practices.
