Ask an Expert - Forum > using sirio pearl for relief printmaking

I would like to try Sirio Pearl Platinum for a linocut print I'm working on and would like to know if it's suitable for relief printmaking using an intaglio press and if it is archival.

Thanks,

Poli

Hi Poli, You're going to need to run some tests on the paper as there are too many variables. For example, a lot will depend on the ink you use and whether this will adhere to the metallic coating. Not only is the paper coated on both sides, but it is also a cellulose paper instead of cotton. Sirio is archival, but it's not a cotton paper. Cotton is more durable than wood.

Which leads to the next point: You'll need to test to see if the paper cracks depending on the amount of pressure that is applied on the press.

We'd be happy to send you some small samples to conduct your tests. Please send an email with your shipping details to info [at] legionpaper [dot] com
