I bought a large roll of YUPO, how do I flatten it? Will be cutting into about half letter size pieces for small works and don't want to stretch. Thanks for your help :)
Hi Tricia, If you lay your sheets on a flat surface for a day or two the curl will lessen and eventually disappear. To speed the process up you may weigh down the paper by sandwiching the YUPO between some sheets of foamcore and applying some weight on top.
YUPO just holds its curl from being tightly rolled — no need to stretch it.
Try gently rolling it in the opposite direction and let it sit for a day. You can also cut it into larger sheets, lay them flat, and place books or boards on top overnight. Sandwiching it between smooth boards with even weight works well too.
Avoid heat, as it can affect the surface. Once cut to half-letter size, it should relax and stay flatter.
What about if I cut a larger piece let’s say 45 x 45. Do I use the same method with the foam core or is there a different tactic for larger pieces?
Thank you!
The same method using foam core should apply on larger sheets of YUPO.
