Ask an Expert - Forum > Paper Samples for Color Pencil Recommendations?

Hello there,

I am looking for paper samples that are good with color pencils and a lot of layering (specifically with Prismacolors).... I am willing to do custom ordering.

I am thinking of paper on the heavier side of its paperweight but am also willing to try out anything based on recommendations (I am learning more about paper as I go and it’s simply not enough to just learn about them without feeling it out!)..

In the future, I would like this paper to be available to work on a large to a grand scale. So I should be able to purchase a roll of 40” and over or in large-scale paper sheets. I am also interested to give boards a try? (So far the Legion Drawing & Framing and the Rising Museum Board caught my eye - but I want to make sure)!

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any advice and suggestions.

Hi Selene,

Our most popular paper for colored pencils is Stonehenge, which is a 250gsm, 100% cotton paper that accepts multiple layering. We offer this in a variety of formats: Pads, Sheets and wide-format 50" rolls. Here are more details about the paper:

Aside from Stonehenge we offer a wide variety of drawing papers. Here's a list of papers we recommend for colored pencils:
