Dear Legion Paper,
I'm an artist and I started using a product that was marketed as an art paper under the name "Aqaba”. It was available in 24' x 36" sheets and rolls 60" wide and 100 yards long. This paper was thin, smooth on one side, and very strong both dry and wet which made it perfect for doing large format wax rubbing and hand printmaking techniques. It was also relatively inexpensive when compared to Japanese art papers which don't come in the same dimensions or quantities. I don't know who manufactured it but I used to order it from NY Central it is my understanding that Legion was the primary supplier to NY Central. In the early 2000s this paper disappeared from the market. I’m wondering if you know of this product and if so could either source it, or recommend a similar product with similar dimensions?

The name of the paper is “Abaca” - we don’t carry it because minimums to manufacture were much greater than demand. I know NYCS used to carry it many years ago - we never carried it as an item.
You can go online and try and source it - it might be available in a roll format from an overseas company or small retailer.
Hope this helps...
