I'm looking to make wedding invitations with my Spellbinders Betterpress machine and am wondering what the best paper would be to use. I was also wondering if there are any options that are colored, like a light sage green, or if all the options for letterpress are mainly shades of white/vanilla? I'm looking to make a 5"x7" postcard-style invitation. Thank you for any input you can provide!
The Spellbinders BetterPress system works equally well with papers that have a soft, cottony surface and those harder, wood papers. We suggest using papers with sufficient weight to hold a crisp, deep impression.
You can create beautiful letterpress cards on many types/colors of paper. For classic white and off-white options, our Stonehenge 250gsm and Lenox 100 are excellent choices. Both are made from 100% cotton, offering that perfect balance of softness and structure the BetterPress loves.
If you're looking to incorporate color—like a light sage green—we suggest exploring the Colorplan and Lessebo lines. Colorplan Pale Green or Park Green could be beautiful, subtle options for your invitation design, as would Lessebo's Lagoon and Moss. Both papers are available in heavier weights, which are perfect for a 5"x7" postcard-style format.
