Ask an Expert - Forum > Japanese - Or similar Paper for Notebook

Hi - I'm looking to source a paper that I can digital print on for a notebook (for commercial purposes). I love the feel and weight of Maruman notebooks (and other similar Japanese paper brands). I'm looking for something in the 80 gsm to 110 gsm weight. Let me know if you have any recommendations.

In addition to Maruman, I also like Nippon fine papers but can't find any where to source them here locally in the US. I enjoy the super smooth feel of paper from the Japanese mills, but I find the super smooth paper from US mills don't write as smoothly (i.e., my pen seems to skip on the page).

Thanks in advance!

If you like the smooth, refined feel of Japanese papers like Maruman, We recommend Lessebo Design or Lessebo Design Smooth. Both are uncoated papers from Sweden that deliver a similar tactile experience. A smooth and consistent surface texture, but still has a natural paper feel. Pen work will not skip on the page as it glides across the surface.

Lessebo Design comes in several weights ideal for notebooks, including 80, 90, 100, and 115 gsm.
